A new law in the aesthetics industry, BOTULINUM TOXIN AND COSMETIC FILLERS (CHILDRENS) ACT 2021, came into effect on the 1st of October 2021. It is now a criminal offence to administer botulinum toxin ( commonly known as Botox ) or Dermal fillers by way of injection for a cosmetic purpose to a person under the age of 18 in England, even if they have permission from a legal parent or guardian over the age of 18.
Doll House Aesthetics welcomes this new law. We feel this new bill was much needed in the industry to safeguard our children.
Our Health Minister Nadine Dorries told the House of Commons, I believe everyone has the right to make informed decisions about their bodies, but our role in Government is to support young people in making safe, informed choices where necessary and to protect them from potential harm that cosmetic procedures can do to their health.
“The increasing popularity of cosmetic procedures and the pressures on young people to achieve this aesthetic ideal are well documented and I believe this Bill is an important step in putting these necessary safeguards in place.”
And we could not agree more!
